Our recent stories

Visit to Nunraw Abbey
The Inspire Women's Group recently made a visit to Nunraw Abbey, near the village of Garvald in East Lothian.
The group were welcomed and offered a tour and refreshments before joining the community for Vespers.

The Inspire Group includes women from across the churches in Dunbar and meets once a month from September to June.

Knitted Bible Festival
During February, St Anne's hosted the Knitted Bible Festival. A variety of events were on offer for people of all ages. Some tried knitting, some tried felting wool, some enjoyed a cuppa and conversation, but all gained an insight into the variety of stories in the Bible.

P4 children from Dunbar Primary School were able to visit the Knitted Bible Festival. This fits with the school curriculum, and offered a dynamic introduction to the Bible.

National Church Awards
In 2023, St Anne’s was the winner in the maintenance category of the National Churches Trust’s National Church Awards.
The judges said they loved how our church had adopted a monthly maintenance plan to ensure the building is properly cared for throughout the year, and how a dedicated team of volunteers, then led by Mike Ling (pictured), had learnt new skills to keep the church in good repair and for the benefit of the local community

Speak Their Name Quilt
The Lothian's Speak Their Name Quilt was exhibited at St Anne's in January. Each square of the quilt was created by the family of someone lost to suicide.

This visual storytelling was a powerful affirmation of life.

Crib Service
The Crib Service held on Christmas Eve each year is always well attended. For many families, this is an important part of their celebration of Christmas.
