WELCOME TO THE WEB SITE OF
SAINT ANNE’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH

A CHARITY REGISTERED IN SCOTLAND No: SC010950
Home.Groups.Events & News.Magazine.
The present Church, designed by Rowland Anderson, was opened for worship on 21 May 1890, although an Episcopal community had been meeting in the Corn Exchange from 1874. It is a good example of the Victorian Neo-Gothic style, with some beautiful wood work and stained glass, and a very fine Father Willis organ. The design of the roof interior is representative of the hull of a boat to reflect Dunbar’s fishing heritage. We also have a quaint iron hall, originally  a chapel in Falkirk, and transported to Saint Anne's when it was no longer needed there.

Our church is situated in the harbour town of Dunbar in the beautiful county of East Lothian. We are a country Parish serving not only Dunbar but the surrounding villages.

The Church is dedicated to St Anne who is accredited as the mother  of  Mary and therefore grandmother to Jesus (or as our children say Jesus’ Granny). However she is not mentioned in the New Testament and what little we know of her comes from the Protoevangelium of James which dates back to only the second century.

A little about us.........

We have a public address system with loop, ramps for wheel chair access and a disabled toilet.
The congregation is small and friendly, drawn from the town and neighbouring villages and farms. They are very much involved in the community, and the Dunbar Churches Together Initiative. Alpha is becoming a regular part of the church life.
